LECACY PROJECTS

Continuous innovation in methods, systems and solutions.

1990: MAKING A FLAT EARTH INTO A SPHERE

The vision was to create useful systems for logistics planning and optimization. Those days digital maps were something unusual and a subject for a few experts. One of the first projects was to solve the mathematics of making a conversion from the flat RT90 map projection that was used in Sweden to the international latitude longitude system used by GPS. Latitude and longitude – correctly – assume that the earth is spheric, but the local coordinate system in Sweden assumes that the earth is flat, which is ok for a small country. In order to synchronize data and make a cheaper more accessible international system a conversion method was necessary.

1993: BIT AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE PERSONAL ROUTE PLANNER

“Nordrutt” became the most sold personal route planner in many countries. This was recognized by BIT magazine, whose award “Gold BIT” was coveted by software companies. Nordrutt was easy to use and gave better precision in distance calculation than the official distance tables that was available in a book format.

1994: FIRST USEFUL PRO ROUTE OPTIMIZER

No or very few digital maps were available in the beginning of the 90:ies. The solution was to take the work head-on to develop rational methods for construction of digital road maps. Focus was for the transport industry and the map used postcodes as addresses. In short time we were able to deliver over 20.000 systems and RouteLogiX became a de-facto standard in many countries.

2000: MULTI COUNTRY AND MULTI VEHICLE

Adding more and more optimisation functions with the team from Distribution Planning Software with Paul Palmer as the leading force. The result: The VRP PlanLogiX was able to handle large detailed maps and large truck fleets.

2006: OPTIMIZATION FOR LARGE SERVICE FLEETS

Humans? Optimizing large fleets in Home Care (ie society service) is sensitive, while the users of this service have the quality of their lives depending on that everything gets right. And also, the persons making the plans might not be with a background in logistics. This ends up in a technically demanding planning process that needs to be implemented with a human understanding and empathy.

2010: SaaS AND ROUTEOPTIMISER.COM

Making planning technology cheap and available. Pioneering VRP optimization for SME:s. Routeoptimiser.com became the market leader in professional SaaS route optimization.
